My Monza that I had for a while. Blew the head gasket removed the motor and sold the body. This motor is currently being rebuilt and will be fitted into a Drag Corsa.








My current project that I am busy with. This is the first day that I picked up the car.




This is how far I am with the car. Need to sand down the rest of the body and etch prime it. Hoping to have it painted by end of next month.

It was pretty quick, but she back to being stock now. But not for long

Had the head welded up



The area that was damaged.




Had some spare time on my hands so I started polishing up the valve stems as well as the valve faces. It took me about 15min each. As you can see here is the before and after.

I started to polish the fuel rail as well. Still needs some more elbow grease, but its getting there.

Splitting the two gaskets to make one thicker gasket. Seeing as the head has been skimmed quite a bit.








Scat rods VS standard XE rods



The plan is to fit a 6 point roll cage. No rear seats and two bucket seats upfront. The look I am going for is EUROSTYLE.

I had some some engine parts polished up. Namely the, oil catch tank, thermostat housing, dipstick holder, fuel rail, intake manifold and oil sump.















The whole the car was sanded down to the bare metal, removed all the surface rust and cut away the rusted metal. Then we etch primed it to prevent it from rusting again.










Brand new spot lights.


Welded along the lower control arms for some strength. I also made a Chassis Strengthening Kit based on the design by Chris Astley Motorsport. First I drew up the design on computer. Then proceeded to cut out some cardboard templates and made sure everything aligned up properly. Had it laser cut from 3mm steel. Here is a screen shot of my design:

Here are pics of a Corsa fitted with the Chassis Strengthening Kit.








The weakest points of the Corsa and Tigra are the connection points between the front crossmember and the left and right chassis legs.

The two front tiebar brackets are mounted at this point. These tiebar brackets transmit high forces into the chassis during braking and accelerating, especially when a more powerful engine and bigger brakes are fitted to the car.

This strengthening kit has been developed to strengthen the bodywork at these critical points. The kit consists of 6 strengthening plates, laser-cut from 3mm thick steel which are pre-shaped and ready to be welded into place.



I finally got stuck into the car again today. Here are some pics of what I did today.

Tack welded the strengthening plates. Will do the complete welds tomorrow.











Welded a new roof onto the car as the old one was rusted to bits as well as flushed the fuel cap. I will be putting a fuel cell in the spare wheel well. Also finished up all the welding. Now to start prepping it for paint.



























Finished porting the head and polishing the exhaust ports and combustion chambers. Then went on to assemble it. It took me a good few hours and working with an electrical drill does not make the job any easier.

Dropped the car off at my buddies panel shop and had it sprayed over there

Brought the car home. This is how far the project is at the moment.





I dont have any other updated pics, but I have since sprayed all the suspension parts silver and need to assemble everything and then have the roll cage done.

I'm not really happy with the work done in the engine bay. So I will be doing it over, it needs to be 100% right. The look I am going for is EURO STYLE which is clean and smooth. It will look similar to the pics below. Attention to detail is key, if you want to get this look right, so all the bolts and nuts in around the engine bay will be gold plated as well as the wiring in the engine bay will be hidden. A custom loom will need to be made up.

The inside fender liners will be covered with fibreglass and then smoothed.
