I would suggest that you atleast go stage 2 cams, cos stage 1 is very mild. These engines luv to be revved and only once you have the tec gearbox in, will your car trully come alive wit this conversion. The 180i's gears are to loooooong for this setup. Once you done i'd like to see how this car goes... who is gonna do the build for u anyway?

Re: New spec ballade (Silversurfer)
Nyc cabby bru....with a ls conversion with vtec pistons that will bump your compression up to 11:1 which should give u power between 130 and 140 kw,then with a stage 1 cam another 8-10kw. If you wana go stage 2 cams then you must do valvetrain. Oh you got to fit a chip also cos u gettin in more air and you have to compensate with more fuel. Then also gona have to rev higher else you gona fall out of your powerband. With regards to the vtec gearbox they are very scarce but if you get your hands on 1 it wud reali make a huge difference. Just some advice, use it ,dont use it

Howzit
Shanes gonna do the conversion for me im gonna fit the new unichip q version with and vtec module to activate the vtec the head has been fully reconditioned with a light skim to up the compression a bit rather gonna stick to stage 1 cams they dont need aftermarket springs and retainers the gearbox will be fitted at a later stage i will also be using the gsr headbolts cambelt and the vtec waterpump just need the pistons still honda has discontinued b16 pistons im abit 2 minded fitting 2nd had pistons rather gonna get arias pistons from ferrolis price is a bit steep but ya R5500 a set.

Re: New spec ballade (Silversurfer)
Nice ride! I'm not 2 cosy with the idea of fitting aftermarket cams with out valve train, It might work but for how long!? For piece of mind get some ctr springs + retainers

Re: New spec ballade (Silversurfer)
I stay in Bothasig and work in Goodwood.
The last time i spoke to Shane he said that i dont need to upgrade the valve train for stage 1 cams but who knows maybe you are right i will mention it to him the next time i speak to him.
If i do a valve train upgrade then i would rather go for stage 3 cams
